Curb stencils are the best way to paint letters and numbers onto curbs. Whether you are trying to paint warning phrases such as "FIRE LANE" or simply want to paint the house numbers, we have the right curb stencil for you. How To Choose The Right Curb Stencil
We recommend you measure the width of the curb to determine the best size for your curb stencil letters. We generally recommend painting 3 inch or 4 inch letters on curbs. Please browse our recommendations below to guide your selection of curb stencils. Keep in mind that our stencils are available in two grades: Durolast and Maxilast. When using curb stencils, it is recommended that you use the thinner grade, Durolast. This thinner material makes the stencil more easily conformable to the curved surface of a curb. Which is good news for you, because its the cheaper option!
Need to paint a word or short phrase?
If you would like to paint a word or a short phrase, we recommend ordering a 10 character wording stencil, which is an easy one piece stencil that contains your custom text (up to 10 characters including a space). This option is great if you are looking to paint phrases such as "NO PARKING" OR "FIRE LANE" on the curb. Ordering this item will eliminate the need for stencil locks to align individual characters, since the entire word or phrase is contained inside of one stencil. Choose between a 3 inch wording stencil or a 4 inch wording stencil.
Just need a few letters or numbers?
If you are looking to paint just a few letters or numbers (such as a street number), we recommend our individual character stencils, which are available in both 3" and 4" letter heights. Choose between three inch individual character stencils or the four inch individual character stencils.

Maxilast or Durolast? Which is better for curb stencils?
Fortunately for the buyer, the cheaper (and thinner) material is actually better for curb stencils, because it is more flexible. We recommend that you choose Durolast as the material for your curb stencils. See the chart below for a description of both material options.

Q: How long will the stencil last?
A: These high quality stencils are very durable. The life of the stencil is based on several factors including cleaning, storage and frequency of use. The most important thing is to store the stencils out of direct sunlight.
Q: Are your stencils reusable?
A: Yes, they are very durable and if cared for properly will have a long life.
Q: What is the difference between the Durolast and the Maxilast material?
A: Both Durolast and Maxilast are made of polyethene plastic. Both are durable materials that will provide multiple uses. The durolast material is 1/16 inch thick (about the thickness of a quarter) and is a more economical option. The maxilast material is a heavy duty 1/8 inch thick (about the thickness of a nickel and penny stacked) and is second to none in life and service.
Q: How do you recommend cleaning the stencils?
A: No paint thinner is required to maintain your stencil. Do not allow your stencils to soak in paint thinner. Our stencils are made of Low Density Polyethene plastic. This is a very flexible, non-hazardous, tough and non-porous plastic. Built up paint will peel off quite easily.
Q: How should I store the stencil?
A: Stencils should be stored flat and face down at room temperature. Be very careful handling the plastic should you need to use your stencil in weather colder than 50 degrees. The stencils become more stiff and brittle in cold temperatures.
Q: Do you make custom stencils?
A: Yes. Send your graphic with size requirements for a quote. Custom stencils have an approximate 1 week lead time.
Q: Can I purchase material to make my own stencil?
A: Yes. You can purchase plastic sheet stencil material to make your own stencil.
Q: How quickly will my stencil ship?
A: Stencils typically ship in 1-2 business days. Next Day Air Shipping is available and can be selected at checkout. Custom stencils or standard items that have to be cut require a 1 week lead time.
