GHS-SDS

GHS (which stands for "Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals") is an internationally agreed-upon system, created by the United Nations in 1992 to replace the varied classification and labeling standards used in different countries. GHS aims to provide consistent criteria for classification and labeling on a global level and ensure the safe production, transport, handling, use, and disposal of hazardous materials.

Three important ways businesses must meet GHS rules:

  • Have proper GHS labels on hazardous chemicals
  • Have proper GHS labels on secondary containers for hazardous chemicals
  • Have SDS (Safety Data Sheets) binders available to record safety data and safety incidents

Our GHS label for secondary containers simplifies the process of migrating your chemicals over to secondary containers, which helps your facility remain in compliance with GHS rules—preventing citations and fines. Our labels are an efficient tool to easily mark and record hazards presented by chemicals poured or stored in secondary containers.

SDS binders—in both English and Spanish—and GHS-SDS training kits are designed to help optimize your facility-wide GHS-SDS system. We also carry SDS signs, racks, and stands to ensure your SDS location is visible and stocked with the required binders, safety manuals, and training books. Most of our SDS materials are available in English, Spanish, and French Canadian.
