Hard Hats for Head Protection

Hard hats are the most essential head protection for workers in construction sites, warehouses, and anywhere there is a danger of head impacts. Our hard hats feature a ribbed top for added strength, and slotted sides to accommodate other head protection such as nape liners, face masks, or ear muffs. We carry 2 types of hard hats for your head protection needs:

• The 4 point pin lock suspension hard hat features a resilient but lightweight polyethylene construction and a 4-pin adjustable nylon suspension for impact protection. Available in a variety of colors.
• The 4-point ratchet suspension hard hat features the same lightweight polyethylene construction with 4 ratchet adjustments to customize the nylon suspension.

Head Protection: Mouth and Nose

To protect the nose and mouth, we carry basic dust masks to filter out wood dust and fiberglass. For even better protection, select the dust/mist respirators. These masks can also protect against aerosols. Both varieties include a small elastic head strap that can be easily adjusted for a comfortable fit.

For painters, we carry a Painters dust hood to keep paint and dust out of the face, nose, and eyes.

Head Protection: Head Wraps

Good head protection includes articles to help regulate head temperature. Worn in conjunction with helmets and hard hats, our head wraps prevent frostbite of the ears or excessive sweating.

• The standard cotton wrap keeps sweat out of the eyes and face, and comes in a variety of colors and patterns.
• The coolmax wrap uses a coolmax fabric to draw sweat away from the head, and dries out much faster than standard cotton.
• Our skull cap uses the same coolmax material to draw sweat away from the head, and can also keep the ears warm on cold days.
• Our mid cap is designed especially for use in temperatures below 50°F, but uses the same coolmax material to absorb sweat.

Head Protection: Nape Liners

Nape liners are worn under hard hats and helmets and extend over the back of the neck to protect against cold, wind, and sun exposure. We carry a wide selection of nape liners, all constructed with flame-retardant materials and designed to work in conjunction with other head protection to provide warmth and wind resistance in cold weather conditions. We also offer a full face liner for extreme cold and wind. Ranging from the basic Looper nape liner to the extreme weather FS-3 Nape Liner that covers the face and mouth, we have the exact nape liners for your workers.

For shielding the eyes from excessive sun, use our Economy nape protector in white or our Reflective nape protector in orange with optional reflective stripes. These protectors block out up to 99% of harmful ultraviolet light from your workers’ eyes, protecting them from sunburn and eye damage.

Our ear protection products guard the ears against most harmful noises and greatly reduce the risk of ear damage in loud environments. Ranging in NRR (Noise Reduction Rating) from 27dB to 31dB, our disposable ear plugs are available in corded or uncorded varieties. All of our ear protection products are made of soft foam, which molds to the ear to remain comfortable even with all-day use.

Eye Injury in the Workplace

Eye wash stations are essential in settings where workers may be exposed to harsh chemicals. An eye wash station should be kept within immediate reach of any work station containing chemicals. Additionally, workers in various healthcare industries are in danger of contracting illness through eye exposure.

The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) estimates that 2,000 people suffer workplace eye injuries every day. In addition to preventing injury by providing your employees with eye protection, an eye wash station should be close by in case of an accident. When used within 10-15 seconds of exposure to contaminants, an eye wash station is very effective at preventing lasting eye injury.

Using an Eye Wash Station to Prevent Eye Injury

• Eye wash stations should be clearly visible and kept within a few feet of the work area for easy reach.
• For maximum effectiveness, eye wash stations should be used within 10-15 seconds of exposure to contaminants.
• Eye wash stations should provide enough liquid to flush eyes for a full 15 minutes. For self-contained (non-plumbed) eye wash stations, this means you need to have refill bottles on hand at all times.
• Because it is so important to use eye wash stations promptly in the event of contamination, employees should be trained on when and how to use eye wash stations BEFORE an emergency.
